Debt Consolidation FAQs

Q.1: Will I Qualify for a debt consolidation program?
Anyone can benefit from our debt consolidation program. The best way to see if you qualify for one of our debt consolidation programs is to speak with one of our certified debt counselors. They’ll go over your unique financial situation, and together with you, decide whether or not you are a good candidate for consolidation.

Q.2: Can I continue to use my credit card accounts if I choose debt consolidation?
No. In order to consolidate and eliminate your debt, you will need to turn your credit cards off until you finish the term of the consolidation. If you use your credit cards while you are in the consolidation process you will add to the debt that you are trying to eliminate. In addition your creditors have lowered your interest rates and amounts that you owe, they may require that you stop using your credit card during the term of the debt consolidation. We recommend that you ask for a schedule of payments so that you will know what to expect.

Q.3: Will I receive monthly statements from my creditors?
Yes. You’ll continue to receive monthly explanations from your creditors. These statements are for your record keeping purposes, and your lowered interest rates and payments will reflect the services provided by the debt consolidation professional working with you.

Q.4: Can I choose the due date that I make my payment on each month?
Yes. It’s important to us and to the debt consolidation professionals that will work with your account that you are able to make the payment when it is most convenient for you to day so. Selecting your own payment date permits you to specify the monthly payment during a time that does not contradict with payment of other living expenses.

Q.5: Can I make electronic payments?
Yes. For your convenience, your debt counselor can arrange for your payments to be taken out of your bank account automatically. Please ask your counselor for a application for electronic debit.

Q.6: Will debt consolidation stop creditors from calling me?
Yes. Once you are enrolled in the debt consolidation program that meets your needs, you may receive calls for a short period. The difference is that when these calls come, you can tell the caller contact your debt counselor. The debt counselor will end the harassment of the creditor while you are enrolled.
